Ashton Winger pilots Mathews Motorsports machine to Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway
Making another trek to the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio), Ashton Winger unloaded his Mathews Motorsports No. 12 Rocket XR1 on Wednesday afternoon for the 30th-annual Dirt Late Model Dream.
With Mother Nature wiping out Wednesday's FloRacing Night in America event, Winger watched from the stands on Thursday night as he was placed in Friday's preliminary event.
On Friday, Winger laid down the eighth-quickest lap in his strong qualifying group before finishing runner-up in his heat race. Rolling off 12th in the $25,000-to-win prelim, Ashton brought back a 13th-place outing after 50 laps.
Hitting the invert just right for Saturday's heat races, Winger started his heat race from the pole and managed to grab the final transfer spot in third. With a whopping $100,030 payday on the line, Ashton pulled off with 20 laps to go and finished 20th in the crown jewel event.
