11th-place finish in Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles

The 2022 edition of Georgia-Florida Speedweeks continued on for Gambler Transport Motorsports on Thursday afternoon as the team invaded Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) season opener. With 47 Late Models entered for the Super Bowl of Racing, Ashton followed up the fifth-fastest time in his group with a second-place finish in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Winger logged a 19th-place outing. (Heath Lawson photo)

The following night, Winger came in fifth in his heat before placing third in his B-Main. Receiving a provisional in to the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Ashton advanced through the field 13 spots in the 40-lapper to register a 14th place finish.

For the finale on Saturday night, Ashton outdueled Brandon Sheppard in his heat race to pick up the win. Locked into the fourth-starting spot for the main event, Winger dropped seven spots to finish 11th.
