Fourth place finish in Winter Nationals opener at EBRP

On Thursday afternoon, Ashton Winger was back in action at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) for the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series-sanctioned Winter Nationals. Drawing 78 cars, Winger laid down the fastest lap in his time trial group before streaking to a 10-lap heat race victory. Starting the $2,500-to-win A-Main in sixth, Ashton gained two spots in the 30-lapper to register a fourth-place finish, trailing Mark Whitener, Kyle Lukon, and Cory Hedgecock across the line with Kyle Hardy coming in fifth. The following night, Ashton jumped up one spot in his heat race to finish third. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the $2,500-to-win A-Main, Winger came one spot shy of a transfer position with a third-place outing.
