Top-5 finish with Comp Cams at Poplar Bluff

Ashton Winger kicked off the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) doubleheader weekend on Friday night at Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park (Poplar Bluff, Mo.) piloting his Johnny Doan Plumbing No. 12 Late Model. Following a sixth-place finish in his heat race, Winger edged his way into the opening night feature with the fourth and final transfer spot in his B-Main. With $3,000 on the line, Ashton marched through the field 15 spots in the 30-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. On Saturday evening at Legit Speedway Park (West Plains, Mo.), Ashton followed up the fourth fastest time in his qualifying group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brian Rickman. Starting the $3,000-to-win A-Main in seventh, Winger clawed forward one spot in the 40-lap affair to place sixth.

Ashton sits in third in the CCSDS point standings.
