In a field of 31 MLRA competitors on Wednesday at Stuart Speedway (Stuart, Iowa), Winger grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Passing nine cars in the 40-lap affair, Ashton registered a seventh-place finish.
On the quarter-mile oval on Thursday at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa), Ashton came in third in his heat, which positioned him fifth on the starting grid for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top-5, Winger marched forward six spots to finish fourth, following Billy Moyer, Jason Papich, and Brian Shirley across the line with Terry Phillips coming in fifth.
With the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) weekend opener on Friday getting axed by Mother Nature, Winger returned with the Lucas Oil MLRA at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) to kick off the Slocum 50 weekend. Following a third-place finish in his heat, Ashton improved three spots in the feature to place seventh.
On Saturday night, Ashton fell short of a transfer position in his heat and B-Main, forcing him to rely on a provisional into the $10,053-to-win Slocum 50. Improving seven spots, Winger recorded an 18th-place outing.
