Winger Follows World of Outlaws to Volunteer State

Friday night saw Ashton Winger return with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee) to kick off the doubleheader in the Volunteer State. Drawing 33 cars, Winger laid down the fastest lap overall in time trials before placing fifth in his heat race. Picking up a 10-lap consolation victory, Ashton locked into the 17th-starting position for the opening night feature. With $10,000 on the line, Winger was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on lap 31. (Josh James Artwork)

1The following night at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the Tennessee Tipoff, Ashton fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a fifth-place finish. Coming in second in his B-Main behind Mason Zeigler, Winger locked into the 20th-starting position for the $12,000-to-win finale. Improving five spots in the 60-lap affair, Ashton Winger recorded a 15th place outing.

Ashton is currently in ninth in the latest World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series point standings.
