Ashton Winger
Podium Finish in iRacing Invitational at Dirt Track at Charlotte
With the regular season still on delay due to the rise of Coronavirus, Ashton Winger hopped behind the wheel of his virtual Late Model on Monday night at the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, North Carolina) for the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model iRacing Invitational. In a stout field of 43 cars, Winger followed up the eighth fastest lap in qualifying with a second-place finish in his heat behind Eric Riggins. Earning the eighth-starting position for the $1,000-to-win A-Main, Ashton quickly worked his way to the front and began battling with race-leader Mike McKinney for the top spot in the closing laps. After challenging McKinney on the high-side with two-laps remaining, Winger connected with another competitor while coming to the checkered that dropped him to third, trailing McKinney and Kaeden Cornell across the line with Nick Stroupe and Logan Seavey rounding out the Top-5.
