Ashton Winger lands Top 10 finish with World of Outlaws at Plymouth
Friday night saw Ashton Winger return with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series in the Badger State at Outagamie Speedway (Seymour, Wis.). Following the fourth fastest time in his group, Winger cruised to a 10-lap heat race victory, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Overtaking polesitter Dennis Erb Jr. for the lead on the second lap, Ashton led the next 12 circuits until Jason Rauen slipped by. Wrestling back the top spot on lap 14, Winger was collected in a tangle with another competitor while navigating through lapped-traffic that sent him to the tail. He salvaged a 15th place outing in the 50-lap affair. (Jacy Norgaard photo)
On Saturday evening at Plymouth Dirt Track (Plymouth, Wis.), Ashton edged his way into the $10,000-to-win finale with the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 16th, Winger advanced through the field eight spots in the 50-lapper to place eighth.
Ashton sits in eighth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
